Moraine Lake Sunrise

Location: Located in Valley of the Ten Peaks, Moraine Lake is about 45 minutes from Lake Louise. It is in Banff National Park.

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

Equipment: Canon EOS 5D with 20-35 lens, polarizing filter. Taken at f22 for 1.3 seconds and set at an ISO of 50.

Digital imaging/manipulation: Sky darkened and slight color shift to warm.

Notes: Pictures taken from the surface of the lake tend to loose its color. This was taken along a walkway in front of the Moraine Lake Lodge. A better vantage point in most cases is at the top of the moraine which essentially dams the lake. There is a trail off the parking lot that leads to the moraine top. A graduated neutral density filter would be a real help here. Wish I had thought of that before going there.
